Celadon ceramic teapot, 'Bamboo Jade'
Penphan Wangwiwat brings contemporary Thai design to teatime with this fanciful ceramic teapot. Crackled surfaces of green celadon glaze are complemented with simulated bamboo. After the first firing, the piece is dipped in a glaze of ko or rokfa wood ashes and oxides. It is then high-fired for 12 hours and slowly cooled in the kiln for ten more hours. When the kiln is opened, the sound of the glaze cracking can be heard.
