Celadon ceramic dinner plates
Celadon ceramic dinner plates
From the expert hands of Boonsant Photikanond come these beautiful ceramic plates in graduated sizes with a glaze of refined green celadon. Two delicately engraved fish wriggle on the inner surfaces. A celadon specialist for more than 30 years, Photikanond creates his handmade products following ancient techniques that Chinese potters brought into Thailand 700 years ago. Celadon is a kind of high-fired stoneware, made by a method similar to any other ceramic but the work is more refined and the glaze is made from natural materials without any chemical pigments. The natural color of celadon comes from the secret mixture of the glaze solution that has been developed for years, and the conditions used in the firing process. The slightest change in the process could turn the celadon a different color than expected. The glazes have almost indescribable hues, ranging from a sea green through olive green, blue green, yellow green, and gray green. Photikanond takes 25 days to make a single piece, each one a unique work of art that will grace any home with traditional Thai beauty.
